Room changes are always an exciting time at Generation Next! Just like in school, children move up a “grade” and get to be in a new room with a new teacher. They are still several months away, but we wanted to let everyone know well in advance for this monumental event!
Both Johnston and Aurora Business Park locations will be closed on Friday, August 17th 2012. We will be cleaning and moving all children from their previous room to their new room and preparing each teacher with the supplies and curriculum for the new year!
We will re-open on Monday, August 20th 2012 at both locations. On Sunday, August 19th, we will hold an open house for families to come and see their new classrooms and meet their new teachers. The open house will be one hour and you may come at anytime in that hour to check everything out!

Week of the Young Child, April 23-27, is a celebration sponsored by the National Association of the Education of Young Children (NAEYC) and serves the purpose of “bringing public focus to the needs of young children and their families.” In agreement with this association, Generation Next will celebrate Week of the Young Child with special activities planned for each day:
April 23 – Teacher Appreciation Day
Parents are welcome and encouraged to give a big “thank you” to their child’s teachers. They work hard and deserve to be appreciated! Generation Next will provide a luncheon for the staff.
April 24 – Parent Appreciation Day
A special thank you for all your support of Early Childhood Education. If you didn’t believe in early childhood education, you would not be here at Generation Next. Please stop in the break room for a “THANK YOU” bagel and breakfast goodies! (Adults Only)
April 25 – Community Appreciation Day
Each classroom will be making thank you cards and banners for local businesses and service workers.
April 26 – Children Appreciation of the “Arts”
Take a tour of the center and see all the wonderful art exhibits. The children will be creating throughout the month and those creations will be displayed for you to admire!
April 27 – Fun for the Children! Magician Ben Ulin
Magician Ben Ulin will perform a special show for all children at both centers today!

Just a reminder to Senior Parents: If you have not turned in your child’s infant pictures, please do so as soon as possible! Hope to see you all soon!

We know that every guardian of a Generation Next child is an excellent parent (it’s obvious because you bring your kids here!), but sometimes a few tips from other parents never hurts and could only help! Often when difficult parenting issues arise for your child, we have some insight into how to resolve the situation which is why we are introducing our online Parenting tab. This tab will be updated often with new suggestions of methods and guidelines to guide your child correctly and safely through those rough patches in parenting.
A lot of the information we will be posting will be compiled from the combination of personal experience and professional knowledge to give you the best and most useful tips to handling events such as Potty Training.
We encourage you, the parent, to make suggestions to us as well. If something worked for you or someone you know, please, stop a management individual and give us some insight – we will make sure it makes it to this board so that everyone can benefit!
